- I want to fly high,
With neither wealth nor power,
But on the wings of mindfulness..
Fueled with the simplicity of my poor heart.
I want to fly high,
Not on a mundane name
Or an earthly fame,
But on a selfless quest without end.

The Good Teacher
A good teacher is a
person who finds individual approach to every pupil, taking care about the
child’s adaptation in class, increasing one’s social status in class and making
sure the children learn to take into account and respect the thoughts of other people.
Teaching
can without any doubts be called the leading power of the society’s
development. It is well known that there exist three main factors that
influence the development of the personality. They are: heredity, social
encirclement and education. Usually the term education is used meaning the
great impact that parent have on the future personality of their child. But
this also includes school education, because nowadays, when parents are very
busy they are the people, who teach children what is beautiful and what is
ugly, what is right and what is wrong. Through them children learn to perceive
the inner world. And the way they perceive it depends on the teacher’s personal
particularities that are transmitted to children through interaction and the
knowledge that the teacher offers them. A good teacher is a person who finds
individual approach to every pupil, taking care about the child’s adaptation in
class, increasing one’s social status in class and making sure the children
learn to take into account and respect the thoughts of other people.
Therefore
there is much more to a teacher than high professionalism. What makes kids
hardly wait until the lesson starts in one cases and hating the subject in
others? Of course high professionalism in the field of the taught subject is
very important, but when it comes to being a bad or a good teacher this is not
the weightiest factor. A good teacher is a person who not just reproduces the
knowledge he got. Not a person that only brings up the interest to the subject.
It is a person who finds individual approach to every pupil, taking care about
the child’s adaptation in class, increasing one’s social status in class and
making sure the children learn to take into account and respect the thoughts of
other people. It is a man or a woman that cannot “play” the teacher’s role but
he in the first place “a feeling human being” in front of the students, a
person that can show emotional response. For example, if the teacher is
professionally good enough but does not take critics from the pupils
constructively or does not explain why he thinks he is right this makes a huge
gap between the students and the teacher. And when there is no emotional
contact the learning cannot be called successful, for the students are not
completely involved. When the teacher does not treat students as people that
obey him, treats them like they are equal to him and explains equally to
everybody it can really be a pointer of a “good” teacher. And one other very
important thing is creativity.
One
of the indicators of a “good” teacher it is his desire to teach in a new,
original form, adding something new and personal to make the learning process
as exciting as it can possibly be. A bad teacher is a person that focuses only
on the information he provides not taking into account the children or
anything. It is a person that is doing its job. Such a person can be very good
in the theoretical part of his subject but he will never have students being
emotionally attached to him. It is a teacher that lets his personal mood
influence on the way he treats his students, etc. That cannot reduce awkward
situations with humor either it is him in the situation or his student. Being a
good teacher is about loving children and wanting to give them only the best
the teacher has inside of him.

Can GNH Live?
The argument
between wealth and happiness is one of the epic points to be debatable in
today’s world. Many believe that if Gross Domestic Product of country is
rising, ultimate result is that economic development of the country is in full
swing making their citizens happy. However, according to Richard Layard and
David Brooks, they states that, ‘with the rise in income of the country,
instead of bringing happiness in the country, there are more of unhappiness
arising in the country.
Correspondently, they believe in the beliefs of
nineteenth-century economist, ‘that the extra income is greatest when you are
poor, and declines steadily as you get richer, the effect of extra income on
happiness is greatest in the poorest countries, where people are nearest to the
breadline” (p.33). Happiness is more important than wealth. This is the
official policy in Bhutan, where King Jigme Singye Wangchuck prefers to speak
of Gross National Happiness, rather than Gross National Product, setting the
theme for careful development and gradual change. The differences between Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) and Happiness are perceived quite amazingly in Bhutan.
When rest of the world believes that happiness is generated with rise in the
Gross domestic product, Bhutan believes that, happiness can be generated if all
the citizens are happy. Seemingly, the concept of Gross National Happiness
(GNH) is prior to Gross Domestic Product and all the developments in Bhutan are
considered in aligned to Gross National Happiness.
To the extent, happiness
can be brought about when the economic status of a country is stable.
Consequently, keeping GNH concept into consideration, Bhutan’s economic
development is taking place at high stake. Unanimously, many believes that with
so many economic developments in Bhutan, will it be possible for Bhutanese to
maintain their concept of GNH. To the perception of my sense organ, I believe
that Bhutan can maintain the general welfare and happiness for so many years to
come. As per Richard and Brooks, they give verdicts that after the basic
necessities have been achieved, income is only lightly connected to well being.
In case of Bhutan, even after achieving basic necessities, income will be
connected to total well being of the Bhutanese. Bhutan, consider happiness on
top for achieving economic income. For an instance, for the economic
developments of Bhutanese economy, unlike other countries, Bhutan give much
priority on conservation of culture, protection of environment, sustainable
economic development and make sure good governance.
According to Karma Tshiteem, Secretary, Gross National Happiness Commission, “A strong sense of identity is critical for a sense of well being,” similarly, because of our strong identity, we can maintain happiness forever. Bhutanese place happiness before the achievement of economic growth and they always believe in gross happiness and value of the life.

My Dear MOM and DAD
I love you my dear mom and dad. You gave me life and you have
helped me so much to grow up and taught me how to live in this world. You gave
and gave and still you give me so much that are priceless in this world.
You two care less about yourself and you fed me and cleaned my
faces, wiped my noses. You gave me toys and taught me how to play and how to go
about in my life. You gave me golden words and taught me what to say, how to
behave and what a person I should become.
You gave me clothes to keep me warm and did your best to keep me
from harm and dark world. Your love and affection is the greatest wealth that I
ever had in my life.
I was showed my path and gave me the direction towards which I have
to proceed. I was lifted up and when I feel down gave me the moral support to
become successful.
The things that I need to cope up, I got from you, the faith and love. You gave me the
best years of your life through pain or sickness and even in strife. Even during
good times and bad times you gave me everything.
My dear mom and dad I have learned from you so much to have a
hold and how to touch, to laugh, to cry and to stand as a proud man in the
crowd.
I remember, you saying that I shouldn't be selfish and I have to
share, how to love and how to care for other. The respecting of elderly and showing
pity on younger one are good quality that you have put in me.
Now to turn the page, you taught me how to age, how to grow old
gracefully, how to look back gratefully, how to hold you in my heart like you
have held me from the start. Now it’s my turn to give to you but all I have has
come from you and what I have I will give to you freely just as you gave to me.
When you gave me everything, you just gave me expecting nothing
in return but to love and live the way you used to live. I salute you and I will never ever let two of
you down.
I love you my dear mom and dad and I miss you so much.
MY BELOVED AUNT
When I came to Thimphu after my graduation, I was
happy to have a nice stay with my beloved aunt. The most memorable moment in my life was, when she called me my dear son.
If I compare, she has one of the biggest heart
with the most caring touch and she shares her heart with most of the people and
many of us loves her the way she was. Inside her soul was full of love and
compassion with pure love and yet I can say she’s worth way more than glittering
gold.
To me she is, she was and she will be always the most
beautiful person to walk the earth and remember her in every steps of my life. She was one of the smartest women that I value in my life and she truly shows to the
world her way of good deeds. Indeed I would be sure to say that she was incomparable to anyone and no one even can come close to her the way she used
to be.
I appreciate all the advice she has given to me and for that
I take it in with great pleasure and immense gratitude. Those memories will be
cherished in my life and for they are priceless I will never let it fall.
For all she has done to me, I will be very much thankful to her
and will be grateful to her forever. Even if I am not worthy, in my heart, my
love for her will grow as the days passes by.
On a high pedestal is where I hold her, and for me I admire her so much more than she knows and will keep on admiring her and her deeds to me.
For she was my part of life, that is the greatest gift of all in my life. Her presence to me was like a god’s blessing to me. When I prudently looked inside her, I see that strong, wise woman and I hope to become like her one day.
She was always a giving, helpful, loving, caring and kind to
everyone. If I define her in one word, she is angel befallen on earth. She was not only my favorite aunt but she was my role model too and one day I like to
become like her and I would wish to be like her.
Thank you my dear aunt for believing in me and supporting me
always.
May my beloved aunt rest in peace and may her reach to heavenly abode very soon. I will miss you my dear aunt. Love you and will love you always and will never forget your good deeds. I will miss you.....

What’s Next Now?
This time last year, when the Royal Civil Service Examination
(RCSC) result was declared, my result was just fitting. Out of 336 students who
had appeared in the Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration category, only
36 were enrolled in Royal Institute of Management (RIM) as always. I was ranked
in top 70’s and was not able to get admission in RIM. When the time for assortment
in Civil Service was piloted I was selected to track my Post Graduate Diploma
in Education and off to my knowledge I didn’t go for that one. The then what
RCSC called the eligibility certificate with one year validity was given to
those graduates who had passed RCSC exam.
Then the time for race in job market
was in full swing. The announcements in various Ministries’, departments,
private sectors and so on and so forth were announced and those unfiltered one
have to contest and try to get catch with one of the profession. The earlier scheme
of waiting list after exam was no more in plan and even after passing exam the getting
of job become more chaotic. If one wills to join there were some excuses in
his/her mind whether to join or not to join. Slowly but surely, the time passes
nippily without one’s notice and the validity of eligibility certificates comes
to the end of life.
Similar is the case for every batch of graduates and if you
are not strong-minded then the problem will be following us in every state of
affairs. This year, when the RCSC result was declared, some were happy and some
were not. Among them was one of my friends and now I know what kind of pressure
is building in his mind. All I have told him was, just to stress-free and everything
will be fine. I don’t mean to be sure, but that is the way how to soothe the shattered
one. The fact is now, he will have harsh journey until his destiny. If luck favor’s
him, he will have good job very soon, otherwise he have to go for another
course of action.
That’s just one example; similar to him there are lots of
graduates who will now have to fight against the race of time. Even after 3
years of graduation, there are still some who are still in hunt for good job
and I am also one amongst them. When time to look for good job, they ask us our
experience and without job how will we have experience. If we have experience
then they ask us for our qualification. Indeed, the job arcade in Bhutan is
totally complex and full of miss match in profession.
The graduates hereafter will have rough time looking for work.
Every year the numbers of graduates are increasing but with no increase in job openings.
At this time all we have to do is we have to really ponder from our kidney and
make our living even if the job is not suitable for us. Not all jobs are bad,
if you will and smudge your fortitude, where ever we work, we get gratification
and make us joyful at the end of the day.
Getting a chance is quite thought-provoking, but when you get any, go
for it and that will make variance in your career.
